Bolivar Emiratos – UAE Exclusive cigars

Posted in Cigars with tags , , , , , , on May 8, 2012 by Eray

I’ve just got back from Dubai and have loads of cigar related tales from the big sandpit.

First up, I picked up a box of Bolivar Emiratos, which were released in February 2011 and exclusively distributed by “Mohebi Group” the owners of La Casa Del Habanos across the Middle East, running Casa Del Habanos in Dubai, Oman, Iran and suppliers of Qatar.

The cigars cone in box’s of 10s and are an impressive 6 1/2 inches long with a 54 ring guage
I’ve read a few reviews and have all been good so looking forward to lighting this bad boy up. I didn’t get the chance to smoke one while I was in Dubai so am taking a chance with a box of 10.

However being a big fan of Belicosos finos and gold medals, I know I’m not going to be disappointed.

As soon I get a chance, I’ll stick up a review for you all.

La Casa Del Habanos is located along the Dubai Marina opposite the Ritz Carlton and offer some great cigars at very low prices.

Bolivar Britanicas Hits UK Humidors

The long awaited Regional Bolivars for the UK has arrived at British cigar stockists.

The Bolivar Britanicas, a full-bodied cigar weighing in at a nice 5 3/8″ length and 48 ring gauge has hit the shores of old blights slightly later than expected and is sure to hang around only for a very short while with only 3000 boxes of 10 made, at the mouth watering price of £145 a box over at c.gars ltd who have this great pre order price before shipping commences on the 16th April the offer is hugely tempting!

We’ve also had news that the Casa Del Habanos in Teddington, the only CDH in the UK already have stock and are selling them as of today at £166 a box.

A slight difference from this particular vitola to previous Regional Editions is the regional band no longer states ‘Exclusivo Reino Unido’ (United Kingdom Exclusive) but now read ‘Exclusivo Gran Bretaña’ (Great Britain Exclusive). Ajay Patel, proprietor of the CDH in Teddington told Cigar Aficionado that we can expect all future RE’s to the UK to use the same band. Something about people not knowing Reino Unido unless they spoke ‘Cuban Spanish’. Something I find quite unlikely due to the fact that it is quite commonly used in Spain in official documents referring to the UK.

Stay tuned for one excited bloggers review as soon as my order is in!

Bolivar Belicosos Finos – Box Opening

Posted in Cigars with tags , , , , on December 7, 2011 by Eray

Fresh from his trip to Cuba, fellow writer Luke brought me back a box of Bolivar Belicosos Finos.

Check out the video below on Cut The Cap TV to see the unboxing of the cigars.

I’ve had 1 already and it was amazing. Such a full bodied cigar. However it was still a bit too fresh for my liking so they will be going back into the humidor for a couple of months.

The box is marked as January 2011, so you can imagine how fresh the cigars are.

Here’s the video:

Cigar delivery from Cuba

Following on from recent reports of fellow writer Luke’s journey to Cuba to learn more about cigars, he has now returned…bearing gifts.

We now have a box of Bolivar Belicosos Fino’s as well as a box of Montecristo No.2s in the CTC office.

I can’t wait to break the seal and take that first sniff of cigar smell. Its like opening a box of Nike Air Force One’s and getting that first smell.

I’m going to try and film the opening for youtube……..if I can hold out!

Bolivar Gold Medal

Posted in Cigars with tags , , , on September 26, 2011 by Eray

Last week, I had the chance to try the Bolivar Gold Medal while out with family.

Being a big fan of the Belicosos Finos, I was a little sceptical that a smaller cigar from the range could live up to expectations.
I’ve always wondered if the extra gold wrapping was a tactic employed by Bolivar to dress up the cigar and make it more visually attractive, hence my reservations with trying it.

One of my main questions I ask myself when it comes to cigars is ‘if the company has spent loads trying to make the cigar visually appealing, then what’s wrong with the cigar?

However, once again I was pleasantly surprised. The cigar lit perfectly, and after the first third, the cigar really opened up and the flavours started coming through.

I was getting leather hints throughout the smoke, and found the cigar to be very earthy and towards the end, I was getting hints of cinnamon and Vanilla.

The smoke lasted around an hour, and I knew I had enjoyed it as I was still smoking it down to the last centimetre.

Although not a particularly strong cigar, the cigar had flavour throughout, and was a pleasant smoke from start to end. I still prefer the Belicosos Finos, however I’m 100% I will be smoking Gold Medals in the near future.

I wouldn’t recommend this cigar to a novice smoke, as this is something you would only appreciate when you know what you are looking for in a cigar (if that makes sense)

Also the wrapper is a nightmare to seperate with the band, if you like to keep your bands on while you smoke your cigar

The Bolivar Gold Medal has a ring gauge of 42 and measures 165 x 16.67 mm. They are available in box’s of 10.

Weekend Smoke – Bolivar No 1

Posted in Cigars with tags , , , , on August 23, 2011 by Eray

This weekend, the British weather was good to us so I decided to make use of what was left of the summer and light up….To the humidor

Since my holiday my stock has gone down, however while I was away I managed to pick up a Bolivar Number 1.

Being a big fan of the Belicosos Finos, I was very much looking forward to seeing if the younger brother would live upto expectations.

Usually I’m not a fan of tubed cigars (not sure why, I have no reason) but something inside made me pick up this cigar when I was out shopping.

From the moment I lit up, I could taste the leathery hints mixed with Sweet Vanilla and cedar wood.

The cigar did not disappoint at all, and was an even burn throughout; with the taste amplifying the more it burned.

It’s not a usual Cigar I would go for, and I do still prefer the Belicosos Finos, however for a quicker 35-40 minute smoke, I was very happy with the tastes it left in my mouth.

10 Manchester Street Hotel – Bolivar Petit Belicoso

Posted in Cigars with tags , , , , , , , on July 18, 2011 by Eray

On Friday myself and fellow blogger Ethem decided to tick another Cigar terrace off the list and this time we opted for 10 Manchester Street Hotel.

Nestled quietly behind the Selfridges area, the hotel was small in size and very boutique.
