Tonight Cut The Cap was lucky enough to be in the crowd for Usher’s special one-off performance at Hammersmith’s HMV Apollo Theatre as part of the American Express Unstaged Series.

The show was broadcast live to millions via YouTube from a packed Apollo and the main man did not disappoint as he opening with the massive hit OMG and followed with a host of number ones and new material from the forthcoming album, Looking 4 Myself, including Climax. (For all of you that don’t have it yet can buy it at itunes here).

Fans were able to tweet to Usher via the hashtag #AmexUNSTAGED and throughout the show Usher would (verbally) repsond to the tweets as well as having the displayed on stage. It was a performance full energy and even had the obligatory ‘Man About Town Moment’ – the top off shot. Although brief the crowd seemed to approve!

Chris Brown Tweet war with Cher

Posted in Music with tags , , , , on June 7, 2012 by Cut The Cap

Chris Brown is the latest celebrity to take to twitter to spark a war. A tweet that was taken down (standard practise for a tweet war these days) was a tweet aimed at singer Cher after she went on a twitter rant slamming Mitt Romney and Barak Obama.

From the looks of the below, Chris must be a fan of Twitter.
What happened to speaking like adults? What would Biggie and Tupac have done if Twitter was around when they were at war #thatswhyIf**kedyob**chyoufatmotherf***er, #eastside # Westside.
It seems everyone is brave on twitter but wonder what would happen if all these people got into the same room.

it would be great if they had a twitter battle only using their own song titles…

Cher: Chris you are a gypsy, tramp and a theif

Chris: Well excuse me miss, you are not a beautiful people (you get the drift.

2pac lives on – as a hologram anyway

Posted in Music, Tech & Gadgets with tags , , , , , , , , , on April 16, 2012 by Cut The Cap

Check out the awesome video that has been doing the rounds online from Coachella festival.

It features a hologram of 2pac performing live alongside Snoop (who is real life)

2pac or Tupac Shakur was shot 7 times in September 1996, and after 7 days in hospital he died on Friday 13th September at 4.03pm. (Notice the use of 7 here allot?)

2pac was signed to Deathrow records and part of the East Coast West Coast violence that plagued hip hop in the mid 90’s.

Could this be the future of live concerts? We’ve already seen a Frank Sinatra show using holograms so this could be the future.
I for one would love to see this as I was unfortunate to have never seen 2pac live.

Who could be next? Elvis?

Beyonce smokes cigars

Today Beyonce launched her blog which shows personal snaps taken from her many adventures.

Check out the site here http://beyonce.tumblr.com/

We loved seeing the below picture which shows Beyonce puffing away on a cigar. No doubt Jay-Z was probably thinking “don’t make it wet”

Although judging by the image, she looks like she knows what she is doing.

Being a big Jay-Z fan (because of his rapping and his cigar smoking) I had to share this video with you.

It’s the new commercial for Jay-Z’clothing line Rocawear.

I actually like the jacket towards the end with the ‘Can’t knock my hustle’ embroidery on it.

Check out the video here and check me out soon wearing the jacket haha

LMFAO – Shepard’s Bush Empire Beat Rock App Demo

Posted in Music, Tech & Gadgets with tags , , , , on March 24, 2012 by Cut The Cap

So a few weeks ago Cut The Cap got the chance to see LMFAO perform live in London alongside The Far East Movement at their sold out show.

The show was fantastic and cannot recommend it enough. They covered tracks from their first album ‘Party Rock’ as well as all the current big hits from ‘Sorry for Party Rocking’

Sky Blu was unable to attend due to recent back injuries, leaving Redfoo to hold the stage along with the rest of the party rock crew, and he did a good job.

Naturally I wore my Shufflin T-Shirt along with the signature LMFAO glasses (cause I’m a geek like that)

However the talk of the night was at the end when Redfoo gave us a demo of the Party Rock App that we had talked about here a few months ago.

The app allows you remix on the spot and sync the app wirelessly, making you the soul of the party without having to leave the dancefloor.

No news has surfaced as to when this app will be available, or how much, but one things for sure, we will be ready to shuffle when the app goes on release.

We even managed to record the demo for you (apologies for poor quality, but you get the jist of it)

Until we get more info, please enjoy:

RIP Davy Jones of The Monkees

Today is a sad day for Cut The Cap as we have learnt that The Monkee’s singer Davy Jones has past away at the age of 66.

Davy reportedly died in his sleep at his home in Florida. His publicist, Deborah Robicheau, said he had a massive heart attack.

The Monkee’s had some great tracks in the past so thought we’d put some up to remember Davy by

RIP Davy Jones

KANYE WEST AND JAY Z ADD 4 MORE UK SHOWS TO ‘WATCH THE THRONE’ EUROPEAN TOUR

Posted in Cigars, Music with tags , , , , , on February 24, 2012 by ManAboutTown

Due to phenomenal public demand, Superstars Kanye West and Jay Z have added a further 4 UK shows to their previously announced ‘WATCH THE THRONE’ European tour. They will be performing an additional 3 shows at London’s O2 and an additional date at Manchester Arena. JAY Z and Kanye West WATCH THE THRONE tickets are on sale NOW priced at £60.00/£49.50/£39.50 London and £55.00/£47.50 Regional (subject to booking fee) and will be available from Live Nation

Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne Tour is coming to the UK

After the phenomenal success of their chart topping album WATCH THE THRONE, a 35 date sold out, critically acclaimed US tour and hot on the heels of their huge success at the 2012 Grammy Awards, winning the award for ‘Best Rap Performance’ (for their track ‘Otis’), the duo’s collaboration ‘The Throne’ will embark upon a European tour that will visit arenas in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Belgium, Germany and Ireland.

For this project, music icons and pop culture visionaries JAY Z and Kanye West joined their extraordinary talents to form the group ‘THE THRONE’ and released the most anticipated album event of 2011, WATCH THE THRONE.   On Monday, August 8th last year, THE THRONE’S extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime, Platinum selling Roc-A-Fella / Def Jam Recordings / Roc Nation album collaboration, WATCH THE THRONE, debuted at number 1 and has garnered several Grammy nominations.

The longtime friends and music innovators inspired each other to new heights with their collaboration on WATCH THE THRONE recorded in person at various locations around the world. Over a year in the making and a truly global affair, the duo recorded in London and Bath in the UK, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Paris, and New York City.  The album features production from The RZA, The Neptunes and Kanye’s longtime collaborator Mike Dean. The short list of featured vocals includes Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, Curtis Mayfield and Mr. Hudson.  The lead track, “OTIS,” brilliantly weaves Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness.”

The production is classic Kanye West soul, with the two MCs trading couplets over a sample manipulated the way only West can. “Sounds so soulful, don’t you agree?” intones JAY Z, and the two launch into a treatise on swagger, claiming their rightful place at the top. Since the track’s release, the flood of praise for the track has been nothing short of deafening. Entertainment Weekly declares the track “the most well-executed rap song of the year.” “Otis” can be streamed at watchthethrone.com/otis.

Both JAY Z and Kanye West have each appeared as guests on the other’s stage, and now they come together for never-before-seen performances not only from their collaboration, WATCH THE THRONE but also songs from their classic catalogue.
